MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (7/5/13) – The skies over the Muhlenberg Ag and Convention Center lit up with a spectacular Fourth of July display Thursday night.
Hundreds filled the convention center parking lot, which was Ground Zero for the event. Hundreds of other cars lined the 189 Bypass emergency lanes, and others watched from Copper Creek Shopping Center, marveling at the 45-minute display.
One law enforcement officer said that the first few years after the Fourth of July fireworks celebration was moved to the Ag Center, officials did not allow vehicles to park in the 189 Bypass emergency lanes, but that since that policy was changed there really have been no problems, just lots of good fun.
"It's just a great time for everybody, and with few if any problems. I look forward to it every year." the officer said.
Fourth of July weekend fun continues Friday with "Pickin' in the Park" at Paradise Park, starring the gospel group Voices of Praise.
Saturday night, the 4th of July fun moves to Greenville's Courthouse Square, where the 5th Annual Saturday on the Square kicks off with 7 Bridges-The Ultimate Eagles Tribute.
Both concerts are free, and you are encouraged to bring a lawn chair to enjoy all the holiday fun.
