Mustangs Ready to Run

mustang hoops 300MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (11/25/13) — The 2013-2014 basketball season is set to begin for the Muhlenberg Mustangs.

First glimpse of this year's team will be during scrimmage action at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26 as the Mustangs welcome the Marshall County Marshals.

If the weatherman has anything to say about it, it could be basketballs and snowballs, with a slight chance of snow and perhaps sleet on the way to western Kentucky.

Muhlenberg County High School Boys Basketball Head Coach Tony Hopper told Surfky News he is excited to get the new season underway.

"We are ready to play ball," Hopper said Monday at West Campus. “We are an experienced team this season with four seniors on the squad."

Seniors include Neal Kirkpatrick, Kaleb Rolley, Zach Tarter and Will Broady.

When the Thanksgiving break is over, Hopper said it will be, "one game after another, and that's the way we like it. It keeps the team sharp to have this many games one after the other."

Regular season action begins Tuesday, Dec. 3 with an away game at Russellville, followed by Grayson County in an away game on Friday, Dec. 6.

Logan County comes to the Mustangs' home court Saturday, Dec. 7, and Henderson County on Tuesday, 10.
