Kylie and Chad Homecoming

(2/14/14) — Exactly a week ago, friends and family of the Watson family were preparing for a candlelight service to remember the nine members of the family killed in a early morning house fire Jan 30.

Exactly a week later, Watson has defied an almost sure diagnosis of painful skin grafts on his hands, according to Vanderbilt burn specialists.

After a week in the hospital's critical burn unit, Chad Watson has returned to Muhlenberg County, according to Watson's first cousin, Pastor Adam Brown of Temple Baptist Church in Central City.

Chad's daughter, Kylie, may soon be out of the hospital as well, according to Brown.

"Chad was released from the hospital yesterday, and chances are good that neither Kylie nor Chad will have any skin grafting surgery. Kylie may be released as soon as tomorrow," Brown told SurfKy News.

Brown said Watson is now trying to put the pieces of his shattered life back together again, after losing his wife and eight of nine children.

"Despite this huge tragedy, Chad looks forward to what the future holds for his ministry," Brown said.

Brown announced that on Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. at Felix Martin Hall, Watson will launch a ministry event.

Brown said that Chad is looking for an opportunity to spread the gospel and encourage people who have faced similar tragedies. Brown noted that Chad has been an ordained minister for several years. He has been preaching since he was 12 years old.

The message Chad wants to bring is to let people know that if God can help him and Kylie up from this tragedy, God can do the same for everyone.

"Chad is inviting all the rescue personnel, the coroners' office personnel, the Muhlenberg Sheriff''s Office, the Kentucky State Police, all rescue personnel, as well as others. He will also address the media that day. Chad will preach a message of hope in return for the love the county has shown Kylie and him," Brown said.
