MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (5/21/14) — Muhlenberg County was one of 19 Kentucky counties reporting vote buying to the Kentucky Attorney General's Election Fraud Hotline in Frankfort during Tuesday's Primary Election.
According to the AG's office, there was a total of 205 calls with 210 issues reported statewide. The highest numbers of the vote-buying reports came from Breathitt and Clay counties with eight each.
There were approximately 48 reports of vote buying in the state among other counties including Bath, Bell, Carter, Clinton, Floyd, Harlan, Knott, Knox, Laurel, Lee, Magoffin, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike and Wayne.
The state Attorney General's Office has not contacted the Muhlenberg Clerk's office concerning the report, according to local officials.
Attorney General Deputy Communications Director Daniel Kemp told SurfKY Wednesday that the office could not provide details regarding specific complaints or possible pending investigations.The media is typically notified if a Grand Jury returns an indictment on a case, he said.
