BOWLING GREEN, KY - Flora Goad King Pillow, 84, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Pillow was born January 13, 1928 in Clay County Tennessee and was raised in Monroe County, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Johnny A. and Annie Bee Coffelt Goad.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Joe King and Henry Pillow; a son, Richard Henry Pillow; two sisters, Zelma Moore and Elease Phelps; five brothers, Earl, Irvin, Edward, Clifton, and Johnny Ray Goad. In 1945
Mrs. Pillow moved to Bowling Green where she lived the rest of her life. In 1945 she met Joe King and they were married in 1946. Mr. King passed away in 1950 leaving a son, Larry King behind. In November of 1951 she met and married Henry Pillow and they adopted Richard Henry Pillow . Mrs. Pillow joined Fairview Missionary Baptist Church in 1945 with her first Husband, Joe. 1957, Henry and Larry Joe joined the church with Richard joining in 1989 completing one church family. Mrs. Pillow loved her church and helped in Sunday School and Bible School. She loved her church and her Church Family. They meant so much to her life. She Chose her profession in Cosmetology, studying and working her way up to the Blue Grass Hair Fashion Committee where she taught other hairdressers "the finer things of hair".
She is survived by her son, Larry Joe King and his wife, Shirley, of Bowling Green; two sisters, Marjorie Dye of Bowling Green and Wilma Duke and her husband, Tony, of Lebanon, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Michael King and Dawn King; five great grandchildren, Alyssa, Ayla, Makaela, Sascha and Emerie.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Wednesday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday and again from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm on Wednesday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.
