HENDERSON, KY - Ernest Berton Stone, age 87, of Henderson, KY, went to be with the Lord at 6:15am, Sunday, September 9, 2012, at St. Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Zimmerman Howton Stone Bone, his father, Euriel Stone, four brothers: Eugene Stone, Vance Lee Stone, Coleman Howton and Henry "Buddy" Howton, and four sisters: Lena Floyd, Ellen Powell, Pearlie Robertson and Mabel Skaggs.

Mr. Stone loved his family and God's Word. He was an avid Bible reader. He was a member of New Hope Pentecostal Church. Over the years he held several church leadership roles including youth leader and Sunday School Teacher. He received awards for perfect attendance for fourteen consecutive years to Sunday School.

Berton was a Kentucky Colonel. He worked for twenty years at Delker Bros. in Henderson and then retired from Karges Furniture in Evansville after twenty four years of service.

Survivors include: Wife of 63 years: Ruby Riley Stone Henderson, KY; 1 Daughter: Karen Stone Carter and husband Rick Henderson, KY; 2 Grandchildren: Amanda Murray and husband Ryan Henderson, KY, Richard Carter Henderson, KY; 2 Sisters: Lucille Nantz, husband the late Howard Nantz Henderson, KY, Mary Frances Walker, husband the late Leonard Walker Henderson, KY; Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY. Rev. Tony Payne officiating, with The Rev. Roger Walker assisting. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery, Henderson, KY.

Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday and from 11:00 AM until service time on Wednesday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to: New Hope Pentecostal Church or St. Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center.

Pallbearers for Mr. Stone will be: Damon Nantz, Danny Nantz, Donald Nantz, Dwight Nantz, James C. "Jimmy" Owens, Jr., David A. Riley, Ralph E. Riley, Dr. Randal Walker and Rev. Phillip Walker.
