BOWLING GREEN, KY - Frankie Lee Forbes, 74, of Bowling Green, KY passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, September 16 at The Medical Center.
Mr. Forbes was born October 1, 1937 in Bowling Green. He was the son of the late Eugene and Nellie Forbes. Mr. Forbes was retired from Holley after 40 years and a farmer. He was a deacon of Barren River Baptist Church for 29 years, as well as the treasurer for 23 years at the church. He had perfect attendance at Barren River Baptist Church for 35 years. He cut wood which he sold in the Bowling Green area and he was known for growing and selling watermelon and cantaloupes. He also loved his pets Pee Wee and Lassie.
Mr. Forbes was preceded in death by, his wife of 52 years, J. Laurene Forbes; his son, Robert Lee Forbes; brothers, Elbert E. Forbes and Roy M. Forbes; sister-in-law, Nola M. Forbes.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Kay Forbes; one son, William Forbes; two sisters, Frances Forbes and Betty Ruth Forbes; one sister-in-law Betty Sue Forbes; two nieces, Linda Sue Forbes and her husband Mike Veach and Lisa Ann Threlkel and her husband Chuck; one nephew, Andy Forbes and his wife Stacey; two great nieces and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 19 at 10:00 A.M. at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial at Barren River Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 18 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M and on Wednesday from 8:00 A.M. until service time at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.
Expressions of sympathy should take the form of donation to Barren River Baptist Church New Building Fund.
