MADISONVILLE, KY (10/1/12) – Over the weekend the Madisonville Fire Department (MFD) reported two instances of activity within the Madisonville city limits.

On Friday, September 28, at approximately 4:54 PM, MFD received an alarm from Central Dispatch to respond to 153 Woodlawn Drive in regards to a sparking breaker panel and visible smoke. Upon arrival, fire crews were directed by the occupant to the basement room in which the electrical panel was located. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the panel had arced and caused damage to parts within the unit. Fire crews also inspected the area surrounding the breaker panel to determine if any damage had extended beyond the origin. The two effected fuses were removed and the homeowner was instructed not to reinstall them until a certified electrician could repair the damage to the panel. The scene was then deemed safe and all fire units returned to station.

On Sunday, MFD received a call at station 1 via Public Service requesting assistance in locating a missing child. The child had gone missing in the area of 212 Cates St. Fire crew went en-route to 212 Cates St. and was told by Central Dispatch to disregard shortly thereafter. An officer on scene had confirmed that the child had been located. Engine 17 went available. No further action was taken. The fire crew returned to the station.
