BOWLING GREEN, KY - Mildred Lee Campbell Parrish Odom was born November 6, 1925 in Louisville, KY.
She was 86 years old when she departed this life on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 8:46 p.m. in the care of St. Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson, KY. She was the daughter of the late Preston Benton Campbell and Odie lee Campbell. She graduated from Central High School in Louisville, KY in 1943. She united with Christ in Louisville, KY at an early age. Due to several moves she joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Auburn, KY, First Baptist Woodburn Missionary Baptist church in Woodburn, KY, Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Cottontown, Tennessee and was a watch care member of Zion Baptist Church in Evansville, IN. She was a past president of the Auburn, KY and Bowling Green, KY Homemakers where she received several awards during her tenure at the Warren County Extension Office. Mildred had also taught 4H classes consisting of sewing, knitting, crocheting and cooking. She was a past president of AARP Chapter of Bowling Green, KY. She was an employee Hopkins Nursing Home in Woodburn, KY, Southern Kentucky Head Start Program, Castner Knot Department Store, cook at several restaurants, and seamstress for Goldman Men's Store and various other department stores in Bowling Green, KY. Mildred sewed and did alterations for various people over the years that worked at WBKO and was a personal seamstress for Ben Vereen while he was in Bowling Green, KY. Mildred even owned her own cleaning business while living in Bowling Green, KY. She was a volunteer at the Zion Missionary Baptist Church Food Bank in Evansville, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son James Thomas Campbell and 1st husband Henry Webster Parris and 2nd Husband Joe Oliver Odom.
She is survived by one son, Robert Gene Campbell, Atlanta, GA; three daughters, Carole Lee Parrish (Rev. Robert) Whitlock, Evansville, IN; Vanessa Holland of Woodburn, KY; Frances Elise Odom (Thomas) Baker Henderson, KY.
Visitation/Viewing will be Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 2 pm to 6 pm and funeral beginning at 6 pm at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 South Governor Street in Evansville, IN. A second Visitation/Viewing will be Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 10 am to 1 pm at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, 901 Fairview Avenue, Bowling Green, KY., followed by an Interment Service at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Cottontown, TN at 2 pm.
