HENDERSON, KY - George Vogel Kyle, age 85, of Corydon, Ky. passed away at 9:58 PM, Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Lucy Smith King Care Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Reverend Thomas Obidiah and Eleanor Gertrude Kyle.

Mr. Kyle was a member of Cairo United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge # 604 and West Ky Consistory-Madisonville 32 Degree Scottish Rite. He was a US Army veteran.

George began his awesome educational career at the tender age of 18 as a school bus driver. He received his undergraduate degree at Evansville University where he and his father graduated together. He then started teaching 8th grade English at Cairo Elementary School and became principal in 1952. Mr. Kyle received his Masters degree in education from Murray State University. He then served as principal at Robert E. Lee Elementary School in Owensboro for 25 years. He became principal at Seven Hills Elementary and finished out his career as principal at Cravens Elementary School in Owensboro, Ky.

Survivors include: Wife of 61 years: Frances Kyle; 1 Daughter: Donna (Mark) Fulkerson of Owensboro, Ky; 1 Son: Vogel Kyle of Henderson, Ky; 1 Grandchild: Cassidy (Jacob) Ray; 2 Step-Grandchildren: Marcus (Kellee) Fulkerson, Leslie (Luke) Fulkerson; 4 Great-Grandchildren: Sebastian Fulkerson, Cole Himes, Harper Ray and Ryker Fulkerson.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 29, 2012 at Cairo United Methodist Church, Cairo, Ky. Reverend Mark Jones will officiate assisted by Joe Hayes from Shady Grove General Baptist Church. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, Henderson, Ky. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 PM on Sunday at Tapp Funeral Home, Henderson, Ky., where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 PM by Lodge # 604, and from 9:00 AM until service time on Monday at Cairo United Methodist Church, Cairo, Ky.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to: St. Anthony's Hospice or Cairo United Methodist Church.
