assault arrest 300BREMEN, KY (10/30/12) — The Kentucky State Police arrested a Madisonville man on assault charges earlier today.

On Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at approximately 11:47 a.m., KSP Post 2 Madisonville received a call from Muhlenberg County Central Dispatch in reference to an assault that occurred in the parking lot of Nickolas’ Corner on Main Street in Bremen.  Troopers Craig Engler and Jerrod Hearld responded to the scene.

While responding to the scene, the troopers met the victim, identified as Michael Vaught Sr., age 45 of Bremen, KY, driving himself to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.  The troopers followed Mr. Vaught to the hospital.  

The suspect, identified as Joseph Farr Jr., age 42 of Madisonville, KY, had left the scene.  Trooper First Class John Komar and Trooper Ben Sawyer stopped the suspect’s vehicle on KY 70 in Hopkins County.  Mr. Farr was arrested without incident and charged with Assault 2nd Degree (Class C Felony).  He was lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.

At the present time, Mr. Vaught is being treated at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.  His injuries are not life-threatening.

The investigation is continuing by Trooper Craig Engler.  Trooper Jerrod Hearld, Trooper First Class John Komar and Trooper Ben Sawyer assisted with the investigation and arrest.
