The Warren County native was born on August 27, 1938 to the late Robert and Willie (Hale) Hughes. He retired from Fruit of the Loom after 30 years and was also employed by the Kentucky State Road Dept. He was a member of Old Liberty General Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, and the company of his dog Buddy.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra Willoughby Hughes. Other survivors include one son, Bobby Hughes and his wife Teresa; one daughter Barbara Hughes McGuire; two granddaughters, Brittney Hughes Childers and her husband Brent, Ashley McGuire, all of Bowling Green; a special niece, Linda Hughes Gregory and her husband David; one great niece, Allison Gregory, of Rockfield; and a very special little girl, Chloe Wilson.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Allen Hughes.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21 at the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel with burial at Bowling Green Gardens. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 20 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
