The event drew a large field of 12 teams along with a huge gathering of fans and volunteers. It was preview of the Class AA, Region 1 Championships that will be held at the course Nov. 6.

The Trojans placed four runners in the top 20 to finish in second place. Logan County had three of the top 10 runners to cross the finish line to win the team title. Sean Hurd of Christian County blistered the 5K course in 16:04.28, more than 30 seconds faster than the second place runner. Jon Ashby led the Trojans with a fifth-place finish in 17:31.74.

"Not a strong race today, I've got a lot of improving to do," the WCHS junior stated.

Webster freshman Iszack Whitsell continues to push his way up the standing, crossing the finish line in 12th overall with a 18:22.19 clocking. WC senior Juanshae Baker and Anthony Pryor sprinted to the finish line in almost a dead heat with Baker, a senior, nipping his freshman teammate in the finish chute for 14th and 15th respectively. Baker clocked 18: 31.21 while Pryor had a time of 18:32.54.

Jon Jacob Gibson, another freshman, was next in for the Trojans, finishing 43rd in 19: 40.85. Cody Robinson was 50th (20:16.33), Trey Drury 66th (21:22.10), Jalen Wallace 68th (21:27.05), Blake Hardison 95th (23:20.26), and Jeremy Fredrick 99th (23:52.30).

The Webster County girls looked very strong on their home course as well, placing second behind an outstanding Hancock County squad. The Lady Hornets dominated the race as Drema Johnson (20:54) won the individual title followed by teammates in second and fourth places. All five of Hancock's runners finished within the top 13.

Webster's Ali Cherry was the top Lady Trojan, despite losing a shoe within the first mile of the race. Cherry finished 10th overall in 22:54. Kolbi Edens was 15th in 23:21 while Hannah Pritchett was 18th in 24:00.

Cassidy Thomas display a very smooth running form to finish 20th overall in 24:03. Kallie Duncan was 24th (24:16) while Madison Townsend was 29th (24:45). Mercedes Haney finish in 44th position (27:20) and Lauren Stinnet was 47th (28:38) and Taylor Wilson 53rd (29:54).

Webster's very talented middle school squad again went head-to-head with one of the premier programs in the state Burns Middle School from Owensboro in the 4K race. Burns held off the outstanding Trojan youngsters by a mere three points, 43-46.

Webster's Chance Oxford, just a sixth grader, continued to 'wow' Trojan fans, winning the race in 13:26.12. Teammate Jackson Oxford was close behind in third place (13:56.49) while Zac Shoulders was seventh overall in 14:33.04. Jacob Fritz raced to the 20th spot (15:11.75), followed closely by Trevor Cole in 21st (15: 12.82). Zack Pugh was 24th (15:18.35), Robert Daugherty 35th (15:52.73), Reece Clayton 63rd (17:33.67), Spencer McCormick 69th (17:48.31), Cole Lovan 74th (18:16.59), Hunter Phillips 82nd (19:28.70), Mitchell shelton 85th (20:02.65), Durbin Walker 86th (20:09.32) and Logan May 87th (20:13.17).
