The WCHS squads competed in the annual Owensboro Invitational at Yellow Creek Park on Saturday and the field was loaded with oustanding runners.
As expected, Trojan junior Jon Ashby finished in the top 10 of the meet, placing fifth overall in 17:16. Owensboro Apollo senior Justin House covered the last 800 meters of the 5K in a virtual dead sprint to win the varsity race in 16:17.
Apollo won the team title while the Trojans finished sixth overall. The Eagles had two of the top five finishers while powerhouse Daviess County was close behind with four in the top 10. Iszack Whitsell continued to slice his time on the course, finishing 27th overall in 18:39.
Juanshae Baker sprinted to the finish line to place 29th in 18:48. Anthony Pryor was close behind in 36th position (19:09) while Cody Robinson completed WC's top five in 72nd place (20:29). Trey Drury was 87th (21:27), Jon Jacob Gibson 89th (21:30), Nolan Pettit (21:43), Blake hardison 125th (24:16) and Jeremy Fredrick 133rd (25:19).

The Webster County girls were equally as impressive, finishing fifth in the nine-team field.
Daviess County dominated the race, pushing across the top three runners and five in the top 20, including Whitney O'Bryan's winning time of 19:29. First across the finish line for Webster was Hannah Pritchett in 31st position and a 24:02 clocking. Ali Cherry was right on her heels in 32nd place with a time of 24:13. Kolbi Edens was 38th overall in 24:49 while Madison Townsend was 39th in 24:51. Rounding out the top five for the Lady Trojans was Cassidy Thomas in 45th place with a time of 25:30.
Kaylee Duncan was 55th overall (26:40), Lauren Stinnett 75th (31:41) and Taylor Wilson 76th (33:03).

Webster's large and talented middle school boys' squad continued to show signs of greatness placing fifth overall in the annual race that features mostly 5-A and 6-A schools. Webster had three of the top 25 runners.
Grant Carpenter of Daviess County Middle School won the race in 10:51 but nipping at his heels was Webster's Chance Oxford in fourth position with a 11:19 clocking. Jackson Oxford was 8th overall in 11:41 while Zac Shoulders was 24th in 12:17.
Trevor Colse finished 33rd (12:42), Zack Pugh was 35th (12:44), Robert Daugherty was 36th (12:45), Jacob Fritz 44th (13:03) and Spencer McCommick 98th (14:56). Reece Clayton finished 110th overall (15:52), cole Lovan 111th (15:54), Logan May 112th (16:04), Mitchell Shelton 113th (16:05) and Hunter Phillips 114th (16:08).

The WCHS squads will travel to Paducah this Saturday to participate in the annual St. Mary Invitational.
