And after the dust had settled, the two squads had battled to a 3-3 deadlock.
"Both teams played very hard," commented WCHS head coach Tom Welshans.
Webster got on the scoreboard first with a goal from senior captain Natalie Green, a 25- yarder that zipped past the UC goalie at the 28-minute mark gave WCHS the early lead.
Union tied the game at 1-1 on a corner kick 10 minutes later and that's how the first half ended.
"We played very well and had some good opportunities to score but were a little unlucky," Welshans added. "Our defense played outstanding."
The Bravettes looked very strong in the opening minutes of the second half, scoring two quick goals at the 52nd and 60th minutes. But the Lady Trojans fought back the rest of the match. Keri Wright earned a penalty kick with a hard-nosed play at the 65th-minute. Green converted on the kick to cut the UCHS lead to 3-2. Wright then tied the contest at the 71st-minute with a rebound kick off a missed shot to make it 3-3.
"I like the way we battled back after being down by two goals. There's a lot of potential with this team and they are starting to play better each game out," Welshans added. "I believe in this team and I know they will continue to work hard and improve."
Webster held a slim 16-14 shooting edge over the Bravettes.
The Lady Trojans tangle with defending Regional champion Madisonville-North Hopkins Thursday in Madisonville. The will participate in the Trigg County Invitational on Saturday.
