Providence Pool to Close August 15
Calling it a rewarding and busy summer, Providence Municipal Golf and Recreation Center Director Jon Garrett announced an August 15 closing date for the popular city pool.

"Wow, it has been whirlwind," Garrett said. "It's hard to believe we are approaching the end of the pool season but with the start of school, we are losing staff and have to begin the transition to closing down for the year."

Average attendance at the pool has topped 60 per day, according to Garrett.

"The numbers have been staggering," he said. "We thought the pool would be a hit, but we had no clue to this magnitude. By the time we close, nearly 4,000 people will have come through the gates."

Plans are already under way for next pool season, according to Garrett. "We want to build on this momentum," he said. "There's always room for improvement, and we are going to look at all of our numbers and think of ways to improve for next summer. I really want to thank those who came out and supported the pool. It has been extremely rewarding to see all the young people enjoying the water and the fun. I can't wait to see them all again next summer"
