After receiving the complaint, Deputy Otis Chamberlain of the HCSD arrived on the scene to find 28-year old Christopher R. Beitler Jr. on the property in question. When approached by Deputy Chamberlain, Beitler proceeded to hand over a marijuana cigarette from his front pocket. However, once Beitler was informed that he was under arrest, he began resisting.
According to Deputy Chamberlain, multiple taser deployments were used in order to gain compliance from Beitler, yet during the struggle, Beitler used his right hand and elbow to strike Deputy Chamberlain. However, officers reported no injuries from the scene.
Beitler was arrested on charges of 3rd Degree Criminal Trespassing, Possession of Marijuana, Resisting Arrest, and 3rd Degree Assault. Once in custody, Beitler was taken to the Hopkins County Jail where his bond was set at $5,000 cash or 2 X property. Additionally, Beitler refused medical treatment at the scene and at the jail.
