The Economic Development Specialist for the City of Earlington, Morgan Stone, gave iSurf News more information on the annual event.

“The City of Earlington’s 3rd Annual Octoberfest will begin tomorrow at 8am in the Earlington City Park,” said Stone, “and we will be having a BBQ Cook-Off and a Steak Contest, both of which will be judged at 12pm. We are also holding a car contest/show for the first time this year, which will be judged at 1pm.”

As for the reason Earlington decided to first host the Annual Octoberfest, Stone explained that, “It’s a great way to get the community involved and together all in one area. It’s just for the enjoyment of the community as a whole.”

Stone stated that admission to the festival is free to the public. However, if you want to try some great steak and/or BBQ from the local vendors, you’ll have to bring a little cash along with you. Stone also mentioned that members of Hopkins County Central High School will be there selling refreshments in order to raise money for the school’s organizations. Radio station, Y107, will also be sending out live feeds from the site from 10am-12pm.

Those wanting to register for the Steak Contest or BBQ Cook-Off can still enter until 4:30pm today, October 1st, for mere $25 Hopkins County Health Department fee. The winner of the Steak Contest will receive $500, so don’t hesitate to enter before it’s too late. In addition, those interested in bringing their cars out for the show, can simply show up tomorrow and register their automobiles for an entry fee of $10.

To find out more information on the event or to register for the Steak and BBQ competitions, give Earlington’s City Hall a call at (270) 383-5364.
