Members of iSurf News experienced the brief power loss as well and decided to contact the Madisonville Electric Department (MED) to find out exactly what caused the abrupt loss of electricity.

According to an operator with the MED, “From the calls that I’m receiving, it seems like the whole town went down. We’re assuming at this point that it was a result of an issue with Kentucky Utilities.”

Though the MED could only offer very limited information at this time, the operator did explain that the MED Superintendent, Jim Asbury, is currently attempting to get in contact with KU to find out more on the issue. Additionally, the MED could not speculate as to whether the drop off in power would occur again or not.

As more information becomes available on the issue, look to iSurf News for the latest updates.
