While at the event, iSurf News spoke with Red Cross’ Executive Director, Whitney Millay, who explained that, “Today, we are honoring all of our volunteers that have been so instrumental in helping us throughout the year. We set aside today just to honor everyone for all their hard work and dedication.”

As voted by members of the Mid-West KY Chapter, the following is a list of this year’s award recipients and their respective volunteer area:

Roger Cron—Exceptional Volunteer of the Year Award (as seen in main picture)

Karah Brown—Youth Volunteer of the Year

Karen Hane—Office Volunteer of the Year

Helen Brown—Disaster Services Volunteer of the Year

J.W. Durst—Fundraising Volunteer of the Year

Shaun Roberts—Board Member Volunteer of the Year

Garnet Pennington—Health & Safety Volunteer of the Year

Along with receiving their framed awards throughout the morning, volunteers were also offered a great homemade breakfast and good conversation at the open house style awards ceremony/breakfast.

“I would like to thank all of my staff for their hard work and preparation for today,” said Millay. “They cooked all the food, got everything ready, and decorated everything, so I want to thank them for all their dedication. It just shows how much they, along with me, really appreciate everything our volunteers have done.”
