KSP S.W.A.T. Team Helps 30 Kids

WESTERN KY (12/12/11) – On Thursday, December 8, 2011, the Kentucky State Police Professional Association District 2 conducted its 15th annual “Shop with a Trooper” program.
 
Thirty children, their families, KSP Troopers, and KSP CVE Officers met at the First Baptist Church Christian Life Center in Princeton where everyone was treated to pizza and drinks courtesy of the Princeton Wal-Mart. After dinner, the children were treated to ice cream courtesy of the Sonic in Princeton. Next was the shopping trip to the Princeton Wal-Mart where the children and their families shopped with the troopers and officers. Items purchased included clothing, coats, shoes, and toys.

Post 2 personnel that participated in the event were Captain William Marks Jr., Lieutenant Lonnie Bell, Sergeant Jason Newby, CVE Sergeant Del Miller, CVE Officer John Hibbs, Detective Lonnie Kavanaugh, Trooper Chris King, Elizabeth King, Trooper Jon McGehee, CVE Officer Andrew McGregor, Trooper Stu Recke, Trooper Ben Sawyer, Trooper Derek Smith, Detective Scott Smith, Dispatch Shift Supervisor Chris Rogers, and KSP CPA Alumnus Mae Cobb.
 
The funds for the shopping were provided by the Kentucky State Police Professional Association District 2 and private contributions. The Kentucky State Police would like to thank all those who contributed to make this year’s program a success.
