FRANKFORT, KY (1/31/12) - Yesterday, the General Assembly passed and Governor Steve Beshear signed into law House Bill 2, which extends the deadline for congressional candidates to file their nomination papers to 4 p.m. on February 7, 2012. The law does not extend the filing deadline for any other offices.
The Secretary of State’s office is awaiting a ruling from the Hon. Phillip Shepherd, Franklin Circuit Court, regarding the filing deadline for candidates for offices affected by House Bill 1. Unless Judge Shepherd’s decision directs otherwise, the filing deadline for those offices remains today, January 31, at 4 p.m.
