Henderson Seal 01 300HENDERSON, Ky. (7/14/17) — The city of Henderson Board of Commissioners announced it will hear a presentation about the Jeffersontown Angel Program during a work session at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday

The session will take place in the third-floor Assembly Room at Henderson Municipal Center.

The Jeffersontown Angel Program launched Aug. 1 in response to the heroin and opioid addiction epidemic.

Since its launch, any person entering the Jeffersontown Police Department can request help with their addiction to opiates and undergo screening to enter the Angel Program for placement in a treatment facility, city officials said.

In Jeffersontown, the program is a police-led and volunteer supported initiative. Officers connect people who have substance use disorders to treatment options in the community, while volunteer “Angels” support participants during the intake process.

The commission will hear more details about the program at the work session. Public health agencies and the general public are encouraged to attend the opportunity to learn what one community is doing to combat the heroin and opioid addiction epidemic.
