HENDERSON, KY - Dorothy Annette Barnes, 94, Henderson, passed away at 5:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at Good Samaritan Home in Evansville.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she cherished being a member of the choir. Dorothy was an avid reader, loved music and enjoyed being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie C. Barnes; her parents, William Andrew and Mattie Ethel Trusty Fruit; one sister, Sarah Jane Sirkle; and one brother, Edward W. Fruit.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Gayle Barnes Parrish of Henderson and Kathy Jan Barnes Hillock and her husband, Steve, of Greenville, S.C.; three sons, Donald Wayne Barnes, Larry Barnes and his wife, Jean, and Gary Barnes and his wife, Pat, all of Henderson; one sister, Martha Matthews of Henderson; four brothers, Richard Fruit, Charles Fruit and Jerry Fruit, all of Henderson, and Eugene Fruit of Madisonville; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Willard Knipp will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Combest, Dickie McDonald, Charlie Cain, Dan Neil Barnes, Kirk Barnes, Mark Parrish and Jason Barclay.
The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude for the extraordinary care given to their mother by Roxie Cummings and the staff of Good Samaritan Home Pathways II Unit.
They would also like to express their appreciation for the kindness shown to their mother by Misty Gharbi.
