SEBREE, KY - Audley Irene Kellen, 87, Sebree, formerly of Smith Mills, passed away at 6:55 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree.
She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She loved her church and was a very active member, teaching Sunday school class, Sunbeams, RA's and GA's and was active in the Silver and Gold Club. Mrs. Kellen was a member of McDonald Homemakers, Smith Mills Lions Club and the Corydon Eastern Star. She also was a beautician in Smith Mills for 20 years and owned and operated a restaurant for 10 years while working side by side with her husband to operate a farm.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Kellen; her parents, A.B. and Susan Sugg; her stepmother, Effie Sugg; one son, Jackie Kellen; and two sisters, Mary Lou Walker and Betty Sue Gish.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Givens and her husband, Terry, of Henderson; two sons, Rodney Kellen and his wife, Jan, and Terry Kellen and his wife, Roxanne, both of Smith Mills; one daughter-in-law, Lisa Evans of Smith Mills; three sisters, Rebecca Lawrence of Henderson and Ruth Tyrie and Mattie Littrell, both of Anthoston; two brothers, Hugh Sugg of Anthoston and George "Hennie" Sugg of Henderson; nine grandchildren, Tony Givens, Scott Givens, Amy Brockman, Mark Kellen, Wayne Kellen, Shayne Kellen, Tania Workins, Alex Kellen and Kurt Kellen; 22 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The Rev. Ronald Wingo will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church or the Macular Degeneration Foundation Race for a Cure.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tony Givens, Scott Givens, Mark Kellen, Wayne Kellen, Shayne Kellen, Alex Kellen and Kurt Kellen.
