KSP Criminal Pursuit and Arrest in Hopkins County

fugate adamsonFRANKFORT, KY (2/2/12) – On Wednesday February 1, 2012 at approximately 12:00 p.m., Kentucky State Police Troopers were called to investigate a criminal trespassing complaint on Buttermilk Rd. in Hopkins County.

Upon arrival, Troopers observed a white jeep driven by Steven Adamson (on the left in photo), a 31 yr. old male from St. Charles. A passenger in the vehicle was later identified as Derrick Fugate (on the right in photo), also of Hopkins County. As Trooper approached Adamson and Fugate to investigate the trespassing complaint, both men fled from the scene in their vehicle.

Troopers initiated a pursuit of the vehicle but due to the rain soaked dirt roads, the Trooper’s police cruisers became disabled and were unable to continue to follow the fleeing subjects. Officers from Kentucky State Police/Vehicle Enforcement Division set up in the area where the subjects were suspected to be coming through. Officer Larry Johnston and Officer John Hibbs began to hear the vehicle traveling toward them and at which time, both officers initiated a traffic stop. Officers made contact with the subjects and ordered them to exit the vehicle.

Both Adamson and Fugate were taken into custody at that time and logged in Hopkins Co. Detention Center on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
