Hopkins County Murder Case Ongoing, Body Unidentified

breakingnews update 300HOPKINS COUNTY, KY (2/6/12) – On February 2, 2012, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department, alongside Kentucky State Police Post 2 Trooper Stu Recke, Commonwealth Attorney David Massamore, and Madisonville Police Chief Wade Williams, held a press conference announcing that Joshua and Stephanie Osborne of Coiltown, KY had led law enforcement officials to the site of the alleged body of 46-year-old Sherry Hays, a family relation to the couple, who had been reported missing for some time..
 
According to law enforcement officials, the Osborne couple had made confessions in the case.
 
Today, Feb. 6, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s office released a statement that, on Feb. 3, the remains were transported to the state medical examiner’s office in Louisville. The remains are believed to be those of Sherry Hays; however the medical examiner’s office has been unable to confirm the identity of the remains at this time.

The medical examiner’s office advised that it may take several weeks to confirm the identity.
