Faith Outdoors Addresses Community

faith outdoors 300HOPKINS COUNTY, KY (2/9/12) - Faith Outdoors is a Christian ministry with Faith Baptist Church. Our mission statement is "Connecting people to Christ through the Great Outdoors."

Our organization was founded by the late David "Sweet tooth" Vandiver. We are a non-profit organization that operates solely on donations made by members of our church, businesses, and the public. Faith Outdoors welcomes all parties regardless of the church you attend, religion, or if you don't attend church. Our goal is to reach out and witness to everyone. We have many events planned this year and lots of announcements to make.

We want to start off by telling everyone about our fishing tournaments this year. We are going to be holding fishing tournaments at Mineral Mounds on Lake Barkley and Lake Beshear in Dawson Springs. Our tournaments have no entry fee. We give plaques for our winners and have drawings for prizes. Then there is always good Christian fellowship. This year’s kids fishing event will be held at the Madisonville City Park. You can follow all our events by becoming friends on Facebook or by looking at the fishing schedule on the KY Fish and Wildlife website. We will also be running ads in the local papers.

Our next big event which we hold every year is our Outdoor Outreach which will be held in September. This event is held here in town at Faith Baptist Church. This event consist of many outdoor games such as archery shooting, BB gun shooting, paintball shooting, casting events, horseback riding, and new games each year. We are really happy to announce this year’s guest speaker will be a well-known professional fisher, Clay Dyer. His motto is, "If I can, You Can.” Clay is challenged to do the things he does by not having any legs, no left arm, and a small appendage on his right side. It will be a blessing to anyone that has the opportunity to make it out and see such a motivational speaker.

The newest announcement we are proud to make is the completion of some of the Faith Outdoor members completing the IHEA course. Faith Outdoors will be hosting the Hunter Education “Orange Card" courses held here in Madisonville. The classes will be held at Faith Missionary Baptist Church on Mt. Pleasantview Rd. off Highway 70. Our first class will be held on March 16th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and March 17th from 8 a.m. till everyone is done. There will be two other classes held here later in the year. We will be advertising these dates and keep everyone posted. You can also check out the dates on the KY Dept. of Fish and Wildlife website.

If you are out and about and see someone supporting the Faith Outdoors Ministry by wearing our shirts, stop to talk and they will be happy to inform you about Faith Outdoors. We have pamphlets and some literature we would be happy to get to you to find out what you need to know. If curiosity gets the best of you, join us at Faith Missionary Baptist church on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. and you will be blessed with all the information you need.

Last but not least, we want to clarify that there are two outreach organizations in the Madisonville area. Faith Outdoors being one, and Sportsmen for Christ being the other. Both of these organizations are Christian-based and both have good intentions of bringing the strayed and lost closer to the lord. It's everyone’s choice to support one or both of these organizations.

Thanks for taking the time to read about Faith Outdoors Ministry and what we stand for. Hope to see everyone soon and God Bless.
