Zombie WalkMADISONVILLE, Ky. (11/8/17) — The city of Madisonville will host the Mad City Zombie Walk Friday.

Residents are invited to come downtown either dressed as a zombie or to spectate and walk to raise money for the Hopkins County Humane Society. The walk will begin at The Messenger at 6 p.m., with registration and makeup assistance beginning 5 p.m. Anyone who wishes to register for the walk is asked to bring a donation, either an item or monetary, for the Hopkins County Humane Society.

“I heard about a few zombie walks surrounding Madisonville and thought it was a really cool idea that some of our citizens might like, so I asked our Community Development Director, Summer Crick, to look into organizing one,” said Mayor David Jackson. “Hosting unique events like this one are what will help Madisonville stand out.”

Crick said that almost immediately after Mayor Jackson asked her to look into the idea, she was contacted by Sandra Brown, who was seeking help in organizing her own version of the event.

While a zombie walk has happened in Madisonville in the past, this will be the first time it has been sponsored by the city. Crick hopes it will become an annual event.

Zombie makeup artists will also be available between 5-6 p.m. for a donation of $5.

The event is co-sponsored by the city of Madisonville, Madisonville Forward, and Bolin Rental Purchase. For more information, call the Office of Community Development at 270-824-2100.
