Destiny City

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (11/27/17) — The city of Madisonville was recognized by Kentucky Employers' Mutual Insurance as a Destiny Award winner for their commitment and success in maintaining a safe workplace, city officials announced.

The award was presented at the City Administration Office Tuesday. The Destiny Awards are presented annually by KEMI to policyholders that best exemplify KEMI's motto, "Control your own destiny."

The awards symbolize what can be accomplished when organizations work together to improve workplace safety, KEMI officials reported. Policyholders who earn the KEMI Destiny Award effectively demonstrate to KEMI their ability to manage a formal safety program, provide on-site training and regular safety meetings for employees, and display an ongoing commitment to safety from all levels throughout their organizations.

“Being a municipality, we have a diverse group of workers,” said Lynn Whitledge, City Nurse & Risk Manager for the city of Madisonville. “Our safety program is successful only because our mayor, city administrator, department heads and first line supervisors are invested in the safety of our employees. Each department works closely together and they become family.”
