drugarrest 300 cMORTONS GAP, Ky. (11/27/17) — Area vice and federal agents investigated an alleged drug-trafficking scheme in Mortons Gap that has led to one arrest this evening.

Madisonville/Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit reported the agencies launched the drug probe in May after receiving numerous Crime Stoppers tips from area residents as well as from confidential informants that the resident was a “significant distributer of crystal methamphetamine in Hopkins County.”

Over the course of six months, the vice unit reported detectives seized more than a half-pound of crystal meth, more than a pound of marijuana and a quarter-pound of synthetic drugs. Authorities also confiscated a “large sum of U.S. currency.”

Michael Skinner, 57 of Mortons Gap was charged with four counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (meth/more than 2 grams), three counts of trafficking in synthetic drugs and two counts of trafficking in marijuana (less than 5 pounds).

Skinner was not listed as being held in Hopkins County Jail concerning the current charges as of this evening.
