SOM November 2017 Asrah Waddy

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (12/2/17) — Asrah Waddy was selected as the November 2017 Madisonville Community College Student of the Month.
 
Waddy of Madisonville, was nominated by Brooke Archila, MCC associate professor of English. Archila stated that as the president of MCC’s Multicultural Student Association, Asrah “has used her high energy and creativity to boost number of students in the club and to make this student group truly inclusive and actively working to promote diversity both at MCC and in the community.” 
 
Waddy plans to transfer to Western Kentucky University to pursue a career as a a meteorologist.

She was presented with a certificate and a Barnes & Noble $50 gift card. Pictured with Waddy are dean of students Cathy Vaughan, associate professor Brooke Archila and vice president Dr. Jay Parrent.

Taylor Thompson of Franklin, Tennessee, was recently selected as the December 2017 Student of the Month at MCC.
 
Thompson was nominated by Mr. Joey Jones, professor and biomedical technology systems program coordinator. Jones states that “GE Healthcare was so impressed with Taylor that she was able to start a paid internship program with them prior to the eligibility period.” They plan to hire Taylor in January, four months before she graduates from the BTS program.

“This says a lot about the motivation and professionalism that Taylor possesses," Jones said. "She will be a great asset to GE healthcare just as she has been a great asses in the Biomedical Technology System program.”
