MADISONVILLE, KY - Fred H. Mills, 95, of Madisonville, KY, passed away at 8:30 AM Saturday January 28, 2012 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY.
He was born March 3, 1916 in Johnston City, IL to the late Frederick Henry and Margaret Eland Mills. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Jason Bradley Bryan, one great grandson, Jason Bradley Bryan Jr, four brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Mills was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Madisonville. He was the office manager for Austin Powder Company, and a World War II Army veteran where he received the Purple Heart after being wounded in Guadalcanal.
He was survived by his wife Marjorie Reutter Mills; three daughters, Linda (Tom) Cate of Ft. Mitchell, KY, Carol (Joe) Conley of Villa Hills, KY, and April (Keith) Marks of Madisonville; one sister, Margaret Mills of Johnston City; one brother, James Mills of Johnston City; seven grandchildren, Josh Marquis, Meg Marquis, Rob Cate, Ryan Conley, Ben Conley, Sam Conley, and Luke Bryan; seven great grandchildren; and care giver, Carol Peavler of Madisonville.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 30, 2012, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Don Davis officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery, Hanson.
Visitation will be 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Sunday and after 10:00 A.M. until the service time on Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be the grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kentucky United Methodist’s Home for Children or the Western Kentucky Veterans Center activities fund. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
