MADISONVILLE, KY - Nellie V. Clayton Cunningham, 87, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 2:32 a.m on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at her home.
She was born on March 19, 1924 in Madisonville, KY to the late Ora and Bernice Clayton. She was retired from the Senior Citizens Nursing Home in the laundry service department and was co-owner and operator of Clayton Sisters Grocery in Madisonville. She was a member of Grapevine Christian Church in Madisonville.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, M.W. "Jack" Cunningham; her brother, Coleman Clayton and three sisters, Margaret Clayton, Bonnie Smith and Bee Cunningham.
She is survived by her two daughters, Rita McKinsey of Madisonville and Mary (Mike) Barnett of Dawson Springs, KY; two sons, Dr. Terry (Vicki) Cunningham and Tony (Mona) Cunningham all of Madisonville; six grandchildren, Angie McCarty, Keith McCarty, Jason McKinsey, Jeremy McKinsey, Mikie Barnett, Jr. and Clay Cunningham; three step-grandsons, Craig Ashby, Kevin Ashby and Brian Ashby; six great-grandchildren, Jon Michael Barnett, Dustin McCarty, Stephanie McCarty, Nicholle McCarty, Gracie McKinsey and Nathan Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Roy Finley officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery near Hanson, KY. Pallbearers are the grandsons.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Saturday at Harris Funeral Home.
