EARLINGTON, KY - Larry Andrew Oglesby, Sr. age 74 of Earlington passed away at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday 02-08-12 at his home.
He was born February 28, 1937 in Mortons Gap to Andrew and Alice Mason Oglesby.
He was a Baptist and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for South Hopkins Coal Company, P&M Coal Company and retired from the Hopkins County Board of Education.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his; wife Faye Oglesby in July of 2011, one son Larry A. Oglesby, Jr. in 1995, three brothers Robert Oglesby, Gene Oglesby and Jimmy Oglesby and one sister Phyllis Oglesby Hill.
He is survived by one son Tracey Oglesby of Mayfield, one daughter Leigh Ann Coleman and her husband Robert of Madisonville, three sisters Wanda Owens of Mortons Gap, Helen Joyce Gossett of Madisonville, Loretta Phaup of Nortonville, four grandchildren Larry “Drew” Oglesby III of Earlington, Kara O. Smith of Cerulean, Katie Coleman and Kristie Coleman both of Madisonville, one great grandson Lucas of Madisonville and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday 02-11-12 at Reid-Walters Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Greenfield officiating. His burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Earlington.
His visitation will be Friday 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Reid-Walters Funeral Home and from 9:00 a.m. until the service time on Saturday.
There will be a military service at the cemetery performed by the Hopkins County Color Gurard.
