Mae Helen Steffy, 88, of Hanson, KY

 

mae steffyHANSON, KY - Mae Helen Steffy, 88, of Hanson, KY passed away at 12:14 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2012 at her daughters home in Hanson.

She was born on November 15, 1923 in Hanson, KY to the late Shirley and Nellie Lutz Pool. She was a homemaker. She formerly worked as a switchboard operator at the Hanson Hotel and at the Parachute Factory during WWII. She was a member of Emberry United Methodist Church until its closing. She attended Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Hanson.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Talmadge Shelton; her second husband, James Steffy; a daughter, Melanie Grace Shelton; a son, Talmadge Wade Shelton; two brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her son, Bret (Wendy) Shelton of Pleasant Hill, MO her daughter, Karen (Bill) Renfro of Hanson; four grandchildren, Phillip (Shayna) Renfro, Chelsea (Brandon) Pope, Josh (Brittanie) Shelton and Mikka Costas; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and great nephews; and her very dear friend and companion, Charlie Crowley.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Hanson with Bro. Gary Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Clearview Cemetery in Vandetta, Ky. Pallbearers will be Jamie Compton, Bobby Gibson, Eddie McCrady, Steve Renfro, Miles Stanley and Josh Shelton.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Thursday at Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopkins County Senior Citizens Center in Madisonville. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
