MADISONVILLE, KY - Mary Elizabeth Coomes, 75, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 4:33 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2012 at her home.

She was born on March 13, 1936 in Slaughters, KY to the late Wallace and Vergie Cates Buckman. She was a homemaker and was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church in Madisonville.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Jewell Coomes; a sister, Flossie Morris; a brother, Tommy Buckman; a grandson, Steven Clayton; a granddaughter, Marcy Clayton and a step-son, William Michael Coomes.

She is survived by four daughters, Pat (Carmen) Cunningham of Plant City, FL, Joyce (Bobby) Burns of Beulah, KY, Brenda (Gene) Patterson of Nortonville, KY and Sandra (Marty) Thomas of Madisonville; a son, Ronnie (Carri) Coomes of Madisonville; a step-son, Donnie Coomes of Phoenix, AZ; a brother, Millard (Joann) Buckman of Seattle, WA; two sisters, Willie Ann Work and Eula Mae (Leland) Guard both of Evansville, IN; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her friend and companion, Paul Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2012 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. David Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Thursday at Harris Funeral Home.
