PHI Launches Red Dress Campaign

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, KY (2/21/12) - PHI Air Medical recently announced a PHIRedDressmajor community wide effort to educate the community and raise awareness for heart disease, specifically women’s heart issues, with the Red Dress Campaign.

With great understanding of the impact of heart disease on women and their families, PHI is committed to being proactive and raising awareness about this issue, according to Regional Director Erik Rohde.

PHI Air Medical, equipped with the latest in intra-aortic balloon pumps and various other advanced life-saving devices, transports thousands of cardiac patients across the U.S., each year.

PHI provided SurfKY with a set of facts regarding heart disease in women:

  • 1 in 4 women dies from heart disease
  • Heart disease is the number one killer of women regardless of race or ethnicity
  • Two-thirds of women who have heart attacks, never fully recover
  • Women account for more than 60% of all stroke deaths

According to PHI Air Medical, "Most people are unaware that heart disease is the number one killer of women in the U.S. Simple changes in diet and lifestyle can greatly aid in the chances for women to live longer, healthier and more productive lives."

“We are committed to raising awareness for this important cause because we believe that knowledge is the best prevention when it comes to matters of the heart,” Erik Rohde said.
