Joseph McConnell EOMGREENVILLE, Ky. (12/7/17) — Muhlenberg Job Corps recognized Joseph McConnell, student personnel assistant, as employee of the month for October. McConnell was nominated for the outstanding job he is doing with the student government. This employee worked weekends and volunteered his own time to help run the Hartford Harvest Festival in Hartford, which placed Muhlenberg Job Corps Center in a positive light and gave
us lots of face-time with Ohio County residents. This event also resulted in a number of potential recruits
for the Center.

“Mr. McConnell was instrumental in making sure that students responded properly to the needs of the City Counsel, who organized the event, and he made sure the students represented the Center well in their appearance and actions,” said Cristian Mancilla, student personnel manager.

Edwina Sheffield, who led the event organization committee for the Hartford Harvest Festival, praised
McConnell for his hard work and dedication to serving the outlying communities vital to the success of our
students at MJCC.

“He was instrumental in making sure that students responded properly to the needs of the City Counsel.”,
said Sheffield.

“I love what I do,” said McConnell. “My favorite part of the job is working with students and watching them
grow into successful young men and women.”

McConnell began his job with the Muhlenberg Job Corps Center on Jan. 22, 2015 and said he looks forward
to many great years to come.

Also receiving recognition were the staff members nominated for Thunder awards. Each week senior staff members provide nominations for the Thunder award. Nominations may be from staff observations or passed along by staff or students.

Nominations are reviewed by the senior staff members and a vote is taken to determine the recipient. One person is identified each week. At the end of the year, each recipient’s name will be put into a year-end drawing.

Twenty recipients will be drawn and each will receive $50 cash at the annual holiday party.

The employees selected during the month of November were Brittany Dukes, Larry King-Davis, Matthew Osborne, Charles Wiseman and Crystal Chandler.
