CHAPPELL ANNA JO 11 6 2017GREENVILLE, KY., — Anna ‘Mimi’ Jo Evitts Chappell, 88, departed this earthly life at 10:56am on Monday, November 6, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family and was gathered into the outstretched arms of her Lord Jesus Christ and her precious husband Paul. Anna Jo was born on September 28, 1929, the 7 child of 11 children born to Annie Brown Capps Evitts and George Evitts in the Nebo community of Muhlenberg County near Greenville.  Her childhood years spent on the family farm with her parents and siblings instilled in her a devout love for both her Lord and fellow man a diligent work ethic that would serve her well for over 50 years of public service a strong nurturing affection for orphans and strays of all kinds, and a sincere desire to help others in need.

Anna Jo began her nursing career as a teenager working at the hospital while taking classes to obtain her nursing license beginning a nursing career that would span 5 decades, primarily in the obstetrics department at Muhlenberg Community Hospital helping to deliver over 4,000 babies during her career there. In addition, she also stepped out of retirement to become the nurse at Earle C. She touched and changed many people’s lives. Bubbly and full of fun, Anna Jo fulfilled her contributions of service to society as both a Boy Scout leader and den mother a Brownie and Girl Scout leader a band parent and school volunteer for both of her children and a Kentucky Colonel. Anna Jo also took immense pleasure in being a member of Green’s Chapel General Baptist Church where for many years she shared her passion for singing in the church choir served as a Sunday School teacher a Vacation Bible School teacher and director and a dedicated deacon’s wife. Anna Jo possessed a zest for living that will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a blessing to the world.
