FreddieGREENVILLE, KY., — Frederica Head Williamson “Freddie” passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, November 13, 2017.  She was approaching her 97th birthday on December 31st. The daughter of Fred Head and Lillian Craig Head, she was born in Greenville and graduated from Greenville High School at the age of 16. She received an academic scholarship to attend the Women’s College at Centre, Danville KY, however she missed her family and the following year she transferred to the Bowling Green College of Commerce where she received her AB degree in Secretarial Sciences. In 1940, she married George McKinley Williamson of Bowling Green in San Antonio, Texas where he was stationed, in part during World War II.

Her career spanned 40 years as a college instructor at the Bowling Green Business University, homemaker, and Director of the Warren County Social Services Department. Freddie was known for her storytelling, quick wit, and humor. She entertained friends from WKU and parents who had children at College High at her home on the top of State Street. Many came early and left late due her hospitality and friendship. She was an avid bridge player, cook, and devotee of the NY Times crossword puzzle. A devoted friend to many, she was a long-time member of State Street United Methodist Church.

Her parents, her sister Margaret Head Horton, and her daughter Margaret Loving Cavitt preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sons George M. Williamson (Patty) Louisville, KY., Stuart Williamson (Elaine) Pass Christian, MS and R. Craig Williamson (Patricia) Louisville, TN. 10 grandchildren Carrie A. Williamson, Naples FL, George M. Williamson Louisville KY, Heather Cavitt, Owensboro, KY, Amy Beth Harper Owensboro, KY, Getty Cavitt, Concord, NC, Ryan M. Williamson Bay St. Louis, MS, Lauren Williamson Asheville, NC, Nichole Williamson Lake Tahoe, CA, R. Taylor Williamson Silver Spring, MD, M. McKinley Williamson Brooklyn, NY, and 6 great grandchildren who will miss her. The family appreciates Kathy Garvin Hunt who spent many hours with ‘Mrs. W’ and became her new best friend. Appreciation would also like to be extended to the staff at Bridgepointe Ms. Denise Mitchell, who was always there, ‘cheers’.

Visitation will begin at 10am on Monday, November 20, 2017 services begin at 11am at the State Street United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville at 3:30pm.

Donations may be made in her name to the Margaret and Gary Cavitt Cheerleading Scholarship c/o Owensboro Public Schools Foundation, 450 Griffith Ave, Owensboro KY 42301 or to the Endowment Fund State Street United Methodist Church, 1101 State St., Bowling Green, Kentucky.
