9719871 300x300 1CENTRAL CITY, KY., — Joan Karen Arnett Whittinghill was called to be with our Lord this day, November 22, 2017. She did not want sadness at this time, only to rejoice in the fact that she is in Jesus' arms. Her mother, Lillian Venous Stewart Arnett, her father, William Paul Arnett, and her brother Terry Glenn Arnett are all waiting for her.

Born October 15, 1947 and raised in Bremen and Central City, and just like everyone else, she attended Bremen High School. As a homemaker, she raised two strong and smart boys, Donald Todd Whittinghill (Barbara Rainwaters Whittinghill) and Timothy Wayne Whittinghill (Becky Hawkins Whittinghill). With those unions, she loved and enjoyed 11 grandbabies Shannon Whittinghill Knight (William Knight), Cassandra Baker, Josh Baker, Ashley Whittinghill, Dylan Whittinghill, Jacob Whittinghill, Lilly Whittinghill, Logan Knight, Alex Knight, Rheygan Knight, and little Nessa Knight.

If you knew Joan, you'd know she inherited her daddy's gift of gab. When she spoke, it was about her faith and love for God. Her stories will be cherished by all who listened and loved her. Her old beloved tree in the yard of her childhood home will be engrained in my soul. This time of year, she would always tell us of the most beautiful Christmas tree ever, the one her momma decorated with all the colorful lights. She loved driving that church van for Trinity Pentecostal Church.

For 30 years, she took pride in giving personal care to Harold Lee of the Whittinghill Family and Bonnie and Ella of the Lawton Family. Joan and her best friend, Beverly Gish continually held the title of Aggravation Champs on game night. There were many fun nights with Mary Alice Davis, Allison Davis, and Robin Koonce. Her most requested dish was her homemade sausage bread. It was so scrumptious, Ben Gish requested it as a wedding gift! Irene Stewart will argue it was her homemade candy, peanut butter fudge, chocolate dipped peanut butter balls, and divinity. The highlight of Joan's life was the opportunity to travel with Brother Keith and Sister Beverly to Mexico and Israel. She said Israel was like being home. Everyone laughed hysterically when she unknowingly shook the hand of an Israelian blind beggar! Her most requested things were diet Dr. Pepper, Honey Chicken from the Chinese restaurant, and the nearest grandbaby to hold. How can someone put an end to a description of Mamma, Gran'ma, or Joanie? Just like Jesus' love, our love is everlasting.

Visitation will be Saturday after 9am at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 11am at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Beverly Gish officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
