Henry A. Nolte Jr., 94 of Central City, KY

NOLTECENTRAL CITY, KY - Henry A. Nolte Jr., 94 of Central City, KY died suddenly, Sunday, February 12, 2012 in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville, KY. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut on September 18, 1917 the son of Henry Anton Nolte Sr. and Erna Frieda Hedderich Nolte.  He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Army Ordnance Corps who served in World War II, Korea and during the Vietnam conflict. During his military career he was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, two Commendation ribbons, two Bronze Stars, an Arrowhead and Stars for four Beachheads in the Pacific theater, and the Japanese Occupation Medal as well as several theater ribbons. 

After 25 years of military service he then earned his Master’s Degree in Industrial Arts from Western Kentucky University. He retired in 1980 after teaching Industrial Arts at Boca Ciega High School in St. Petersburg, FL for ten years. Lt. Colonel Nolte was a member of the Greenville United Methodist Church. He was also a charter member of the West Citrus Lodge #2693, B.P.O.E., Homosassa, FL and had been active in the Ft. Campbell Chapter, the Retired Officers Association and was a volunteer at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Hospice.   

Friends and relatives are invited to a memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY. Burial with military honors will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
