Dorothy McNeeley, 86, of Owensboro

OWENSBORO, KY - Dorothy McNeeley, 86, of Owensboro, went to Heaven Saturday, February 18, 2012.

She was born on February 20, 1925, in Princeton, Ky to the late James Fredrick Hopper, Sr. and Alpha Egbert Hopper. She was retired from S. W. Andersons and Pinkerton tobacco Company. She was a member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed sewing, reading, watching UK basketball, traveling but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Hopper and his wife Wanda; and a stepbrother, William Francis.

She is survived by two sons, Jimmy (Phyllis) McNeeley of Princeton, Ind., and Paul (Nevada) McNeeley of Pinellas Park, Fla.; three daughters, Patty (Donald) Taylor of Owensboro; Libby (Mickey) Whitley of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Debby (Bobby) Green of Nicholasville, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; half-brother, Kenneth (Linda) Francis of Lake Malone, Ky.; stepbrother, Hubert (Delores) Francis of Central City, Ky.; Stepsister, Wilma (Charles) Wilson of Jeffersonville, Ind.; a stepsister, Geneva Francis of Plainfield, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held on Wednesday with Bishop Donald Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association, Kaden Tower, 6100 Dutchmans Lane, Ste. 401, Louisville, KY 40205-3284. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
