green river chapel 300CENTRAL CITY, Ky. (10/30/13) — Since 2003, Green River Chapel in Central City has presented a highly praised true-to-life drama that changes lives. It is called "Heaven's Gates and Hell's Flames".

Brian McElwain, pastor of Green River Chapel, told Surfky.com News that, for him, the most amazing thing of all, is "After 10 years, you would think the response would not be as huge as it is. But last night, we had over 400 people attend, and over 150 members of the audience said they had not seen the production before.”

“In one night, we had over 35 people make a decision for Christ,” said McElwain. “We have had nights with as many as 100 to 150 people giving their lives to Christ, or rededicating their life. It is truly amazing.”

McElwain said the drama is "about life choices and the consequences.”

“It's based on real life experiences, covering areas like domestic violence and a school shooting involving teens,” said McElwain. “These two that the are most powerful, I believe. But others also touch people deeply, depending on their circumstances. There is one, where a man thinks that drinking, cheating on his wife, and moving up the ladder is just fine. There's a sports fan dad whose wife goes to church and he says that she, ''goes to church enough for both of us.'”

Based on the huge response again this year, the presentation is being prolonged.

"Tuesday, Oct. 29 was supposed to be the last night,” he said, “but we have decided to hold it over for an extra night again this year."

"Heaven's Gates and Hell's Flames" will be presented again Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Green River Chapel at 1009 River Road, in Central City. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The event is open to the public and there is no admission. For more information, call 270-754-3716. Check out the Facebook page by Clicking Here.
