GREENVILLE, Ky. (1/27/14) – Over one hundred avid fishing enthusiasts turned out for the second annual Mustang Bass Team swap meet.
Held Sat. Jan. 25, at Muhlenberg County High School's West Campus, fishing enthusiasts from Muhlenberg County and beyond enjoyed a full day of swapping fish stories, and got a close-up look at some of the latest in lures, bait, rods and everything you need for a day on the water.
Mark Salsman, of Sonora, Ky. was the grand prize winner of a fishing trip to Kentucky Lake with the team's head coach, Cody Napier.
Salsman told SurfKY New he's excited about both the prize and watching the Mustang Bass Fishing Team grow.
"I know it will be fun to get out on the lake with Cody. He is a real pro. Plus it has been great to come out for the swap meet. It's a great way to help the team," said Salsman.
The Muhlenberg Mustang Bass Fishing Team did well at the state finals last season. Held at Kentucky Lake, the Mustangs' two-man teams came in second and fourth in the competition.
During the tournament, Mustang team member Hunter Hampton of Greenville reeled in the biggest bass in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association finals, weighing in at 6 pounds, seven ounces.
Head coach Cody Napier said he was pleased with the turn out for the swap meet, and said he hopes that Muhlenberg Countians will continue to support the team as it begins its second season of competition.
