Whitfield Proudly Welcomes Interns from the First District of Kentucky

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (6/17/14) — U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power proudly welcomes two new interns to his office on Capitol Hill.

Grant Grissom from Hickman and Aliah Fueller from Greenville have been interning in the Congressman’s office since mid-May, learning about the legislative process and assisting First Congressional District residents.

Grissom, a Fulton County native, graduated from Murray State University in December 2013. Following this, he began pursuing his Master’s Degree from Murray State and is on track to graduate in May, 2015. Grissom is the son of Lynn and Treva Grissom of Hickman. He hopes to attend law school in the future and potentially work in public service or in private practice. “I am happy to be in historic Washington, D.C. helping serve the constituents of the First Congressional District,” said Grissom.

Muhlenberg County native Aliah Fueller recently completed her freshman year at the University of Kentucky. She is majoring in Human Health Sciences and plans to pursue a career in orthodontics in the future. “Interning in Congressman Whitfield’s office has been a great experience,” said Fueller. “I am excited to see what other opportunities I will have in Washington, D.C. this summer.” Fueller is the daughter of Nolyn and Jill Fueller of Greenville.

Whitfield hosts interns from the First Congressional District throughout the year in his Washington, D.C. office. Interns have the opportunity to attend legislative hearings and briefings, assist staff with research for the Congressman, and take on a number of administrative projects.

“Interning in my Washington, D.C. office provides an excellent opportunity for young people from the First Congressional District to learn about the legislative process and get a firsthand look at how Congress works,” said Whitfield. “This is certainly an interesting and historic time to be on Capitol Hill and I am pleased to have Grant and Aliah join our dedicated team in Washington.”
