OWENSBORO, Ky. (3/12/13) – The Kentucky State Senate on Tuesday adopted Sen. Jerry P. Rhoads’ resolution (Senate Resolution 250) honoring the Ohio County High School Eagles Boys Basketball Team for winning the 3rd Region Championship.
On March 2, 2013 the Eagles defeated the Aces of Owensboro Catholic by a score of 49-38 to capture the 3rd Region Championship and advance to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2005. The Eagles had a successful season – 25 wins and only eight losses. The team had a perfect 5-0 record in the district and a 16-3 mark against 3rd Region competition this season.
The Eagles were guided to the state tournament by Head Coach Paul Decker and assistant coaches Alex C. Embry, William Garner, Sr., and Robert Russell.
“I was honored to file a resolution honoring the 2013 Ohio County Eagles for their accomplishments, dedication and hard work,” said Senator Rhoads, D-Madisonville. “I am proud of these fine student athletes for representing Ohio County and Western Kentucky at the Sweet Sixteen Tournament.”
Senator Rhoads represents the 6th senatorial district, which includes Hopkins, Muhlenberg and Ohio counties
