2014 KCTCS Commencement Ceremonies Schedule

grad-2014VERSAILLES, Ky. (5/6/14) — The Kentucky Community and Technical College System will honor more than 7,500 candidates, receiving more than 10,000 credentials, for graduation this spring in 16 college ceremonies across the state.

In addition to the spring graduates, many KCTCS college commencement exercises will also recognize students who have graduated since the May 2013 commencement.

A list of upcoming college ceremonies including time, place and commencement speakers follows.

2014 Commencement Ceremonies:

Ashland Community and Technical College
Friday, May 9; 7:30 p.m.
Paramount Arts Center, 1300 Winchester Ave., Ashland
Commencement speaker: Dr. Henderson Dwayne McGinnis, ACTC alumnus
Graduating student speaker: Logan J. Evans
The ceremony is free and open to the public.

Big Sandy Community and Technical College
Friday, May 9; 7 p.m. and Saturday May 10 (nursing and dental hygiene); 10 a.m.
Mountain Arts Center, 50 Hal Rogers Dr., Prestonsburg

Bluegrass Community and Technical College
Saturday, May 10; 5 p.m.
Frankfort Convention Center, 405 Mero Street, Frankfort
Commencement speaker: KCTCS President Michael B. McCall
The ceremony is open to the public. Tickets are not required.

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College
Monday, May 12; 7 p.m.
Central Hardin High School, 3040 Leitchfield Road, Elizabethtown
Commencement speaker: Tamera Caldwell (’85 ECTC graduate), director of Workforce Strategies, UPS
The ceremony is open to the public. Tickets are not required.

Gateway Community and Technical College
Thursday, May 15; 7 p.m.
Northern Kentucky Convention Center, 1 W. Rivercenter Blvd., Covington
The ceremony is open to the public. Tickets are not required.

Hazard Community and Technical College
Saturday, May 10; 10 a.m.
John Combs Arena, Perry County Central High School, 305 Park Ave., Hazard
Student speaker: Will Padgett
The ceremony is open to the public. Tickets are not required.

Henderson Community College
Friday, May 9; 7 p.m.

Hopkinsville Community College
Friday, May 9; 7 p.m.
James E. Bruce Convention Center, 303 Conference Center Drive, Hopkinsville
Commencement speaker: Dr. Walter G. Bumphus, President/CEO of the American Association of Community Colleges
Tickets are required.

Jefferson Community and Technical College
Tuesday, May 13; 6:30 p.m.
Kentucky International Convention Center, Hall 2C, Louisville
Jefferson Award honoree: Amelia Blossom Pegram
Super Sunday Hall of Fame nominee: Verna Dorsey
The ceremony is open to the public. Tickets are not required.

Madisonville Community College
Friday, May 9; 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Glema Mahr Center for the Arts, 2000 College Drive, Madisonville
Commencement speakers: 5:30 p.m. - Audrey L. Martin, 2013 MCC graduate
7:30 p.m. - Dylan Melton, 2014 MCC graduate

Maysville Community and Technical College
Friday, May 9; 6:30 p.m.
Mason County High School, 1320 US Highway 68, Maysville
The ceremony is open to the public. Tickets are not required.

Owensboro Community and Technical College
Tuesday, May 13; 7 p.m.
RiverPark Center, 101 Daviess Street, Owensboro
Commencement speaker: Dr. Jill Biden, Second Lady of the United States of America
Student speaker: Christina Bozarth

Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College

Commencement speaker: Brandon Robinson, Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College alumnus and WYMT-TV meteorologist, Hazard
The ceremony is free and open to the public.

West Kentucky Community and Technical College
Saturday, May 10; 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center, 100 Kentucky Ave., Paducah
Commencement speaker: Dr. Anton Reece, executive director, Student Success Center, University of Tennessee
The ceremony is open to the public. Tickets are not required.
