KENTUCKY (3/2/12) – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Monday, March 5, 2012, in honor of a Kentucky U.S. Air Force Officer who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, Lt. Col. John D. Loftis, 44, of Paducah, Ky., died Feb. 25 from wounds received during an attack at the Interior Ministry, Kabul, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 866th Air Expeditionary Squadron, Kabul, Afghanistan.
Services for Lt. Col. Loftis will be held on March 5 at 10 a.m. Eastern time at Hulburt Field U.S. Air Force Base, Fla. Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
